two possible layouts for the quilt
This one has the reddish-blocks laid out in the 'tile blocs', while the autumnal blocks run the diagonals:

None of it's sewn together yet, so I can arrange or rearrange as I feel necessary. I'm leaning towards the second configuration, because the autumnal blocks are busy and keeping them confined in blocs seems to calm the quilt down a little.
Of course, all this is back in Sydney right now, so no more work will be done on it for a while.
On the plus side, I've found a woman who does machine-quilting about 10 minutes from my house in Sydney - so I can commission her to sew the quilt together - even put the backing and binding on if I want! Woohoo!
