saturday night's alright for fighting

Damn you sff.net for being down. I have all this free time on my hands, but rather than write, I'm sitting here staring at the screen.

Tomorrow...I have worky things to do in the morning. And quilty things. And I need to make fairy bread for church supper. And possibly buy a bookshelf to store all those books that are presently sitting around in boxes. (I don't know where they came from. They just seem to have bred in the last few years...)

Also, my trip is booked. USA from the last weekend in August, returning to Australia at the end of September.

I'm going to be in San Francisco Bay Area, at DragonCon in Atlanta (I need to work out a cosplay or a dozen), then possibly somewhere around the Carolinas/Virginia until the weekend, before heading up to New York for a couple of days (at least), and then off to Venice and Italy with the parentals.

I am up for meeting, greeting, and eating with people at any point in the journey if you are somewhere along my flight plan and amenable to making sense of my accent, and possibly having your ear (metaphorically) chewed off.

Also, seeking accomodation at DragonCon. Any ideas on how to go about it? Suggestions for places to stay in New York also welcome. (Last time I just stayed in an HI hostel and it was fine; I'm happy to do it again, but still, others more well-travelled might have a better idea of how to go about it.)

If we can manage it, I want to say hi! *waves* I don't know if I can get to dragoncon but we talk about it every year so I'm sure we'll talk about it again, we'll just see if it actually happens this time!

Even if you can't make it there, maybe I could make it to somewhere near(ish) you? Does Az still live in Atlanta and do you guys correspond? Would she be interested in meeting up at some point?

She's in Kentucky now, her husband is teaching at a college there. I think it's probably too far since their newest baby will still be little then and it will be right near when school starts. I'm the only one left in Atlanta now :( I'm about 45 mins north of downtown where Dragoncon is, so if you have a free day we can definitely work something out. I just wasn't sure if you weer ONLY here for Dragoncon events and were leaving immediately after or if there was some wiggle room!

I haven't planned to attend any of the programming specifically - I'm very much there for the socialising, chance to catch up with friends, etc. And possibly a couple of the writing workshops.

I really should check out what's available.
