First Mandarin lesson - quite cool. Takes a bit of getting used to, and I imagine the hearing will be worse than the speaking.
First tapdancing lesson - would have been cooler if I'd gone and bought the tap shoes. Instead, I had to wear some that had a bit of slip, but were ultimately rubber-soled. I'll get them this weekend. On the whole, though, it's mostly rhythm, balancing on the balls of your feet instead of standing on the flat, and not losing my balance.
The not-losing-my-balance bit is the tricky part. Apparently it gets easier the faster we go - we're doing slow-time right now. We'll get there, although the dance the teachers perfomed at the end - the one we're learning - seemed
very complex.
Small steps. And tappy ones!
Work is...difficult. It's an area that I don't have a lot of experience in - less of the pure programming that I'm most accustomed to. The people I'm working with aren't exactly friendly, and I feel like a bit of a lump.
Heh. I managed to get JournalFen declared a 'probable pornography site' since the communities I was checking out featured various words that are no-nos to the web filter. Hey, it's Fandom Wank - they're pretty blunt about their terminology!
And I have books!
The Story Of The Stone by Barry Hughart, and
The Bridge Of Birds by the same. I'm waiting on two new ones (not by the same author) that I haven't read - hopefully to be received in the coming week. *eagerly checks mail*
slm76 - I got your card! Love it. *hugs and smooches* Thanks, hon.
