Either way, this flash video is an interesting look at the distortion of female beauty in the media. I like that Dove got a set of 'ordinary women' and made them the models. Granted, the women are not 'fat' by any stretch of the imagination, but they're not itsy-bitsy size either. They look healthy and have bellies and buttocks and boobs and the little flabby bits on the inner thighs that just can't be gotten rid of.

I got the link from [livejournal.com profile] amilyn. I'm 'average sized' myself, tending to flabby since I like my food. (Sydneysiders? It's Good Food Month!) Regular exercise will hopefully work on the flab, although my knees have been suspiciously dodgy of late.

You know how that guy on the 'Wear Sunscreen' thing said that you won't appreciate the power of one's own youth and beauty until one no longer has it? I think I know what he was talking about now!

I have a casual job for the next couple of weeks. Data entry at a medical centre. It'll pay the bills and keep me afloat, which is always a good thing. Although I have a feeling that they're not expecting someone as...er...efficient...as I can be. I tend to go through admin work a bit faster than companies usually predict, which, technically, puts me out of a job pretty fast.

Oh well.

I've started writing ficlets about my original characters. Gearing up for NaNo. I'm getting the scenes sorted out and the characters pinned down for NaNo. This novel will be done by the end of the year. Somehow. I'm still not clear about that bit, especially since a crackfic plotbunny took over my brain while I was in the US and is presently at 10K. In both cases (profic and fanfic), I think I'll be okay once I hit my writing stride. I usually am.
