Was going to go to the gym this afternoon after work, but have decided to skip. I'll be going tomorrow morning anyway. :)

Besides, I need some writing time after work tonight, especially since I'm going round to dinner at a friend's house just to hang out for a bit. Non-fandom friends - and hey, it's been a while since I spent time with any of them - but on-the-edge-of-fandom. S is a spidey-fan and married L, who's a redhead and for their wedding someone gave them matching 'his and hers' t-shirts with Spidey and Mary Jane transfers on!

I think S manages some major Spidey site. Not sure about that.

Anyway, it's going to be a weekend of catching up with people since this is my last weekend in W'gong before we goes home. (YAY HOME!) And I've been a lazy slob all those other weekends. Oy. Anyway, S&L have a two-ish kid, E. Did I mention that all my friends got married just before I left W'gong, and now have kids? It's like a plague or something. *g* An adorable blue-eyed plague, of course. Like G&B's eleven-month-old N, who has blue eyes. Or A&C's ten month-old H, who has blue eyes. Or R&P's seven month-old C...who has blue eyes.

Let's not even mention B&M who will now have four sons (they started ahead of the pack) and the oldest three have blue eyes. Haven't yet seen the youngest. They were the couple I stayed with in NY last year. Okay, so I have a thing for blue-eyed babies. Who doesn't? Alas, being of 100% Asian extract pretty much guarantees that I will never have blue-eyed babies, unless the theoretical-IVF clinic gets the eggs mixed up. In which case, we have bigger problems than blue-eyed babies.

At any rate, I want to go home so I get some time to write before I go and catch up with old friends. Possibly including someone who knows that I write fanfic and whose first introduction to my work was 'Good Friend Lost' (rape, character death, angst, Goa'ulding - it's not pretty). That's going to be a fun conversation, anyway! *g*

So, yes. Writing.

And deadlines. Was talking with [livejournal.com profile] allisnow this afternoon about deadlines and how the two fanfics I'm currently writing are on deadlines, which is really the main reason why I'm writing them. She was saying she was too lazy to keep going on her original fic, I suggested a deadline, which she said that she and [livejournal.com profile] anr used to do on their respective WIPs (and then qualified it by saying that she actually finished hers!).

I was thinking about a deadline for my own original fiction. Exactly what, I don't know and can't imagine. I mean, I could tell peeps to hassle me until I have it done, but none of you would even know what the hell is going on in the story so my occasional comments would be cryptic. Or more cryptic than usual, anyway.

Generally, I've found I write best when I have people to bounce off. Without someone prodding me, I tend to lose steam.

How is an author kept honest, anyway?
