I miss it. Truly, I do.
No topic, no reason, just yammering away with a handful of people to all hours. Doesn't happen much these days - too busy, no longer in the same fandoms, moved on, don't want to talk to me, don't want to talk to them...a hundred reasons.

Today was luncheon with the relatives, a tasty, solid feed mostly provided by my family. We really have to rally someone else to do the family reunion thing.
On the whole, it was good catching up.
I got to see my cousin's daughter who is 9 months old and adorable. Eurasian with the big black eyes and tan skin and eyelashes to die for. My cousins (not the one who has the daughter) are like that too: their mum's Caucasian and they're tall and slender with very dark brown hair and very dark brown eyes and tanned skin. One of them came 7th in the rhythmic gymnastics National Comp: we saw her routine on a DVD her dad had burned. Amazing.
Otherwise, everyone's older. We still appreciate our food. And they salivated over my pavlova like...well, like pavlov's dogs at the bell. It was definitely et very fast.
For the most part, we only see these relatives once a year (mum's brothers and their families - kids and grandkids), but it's good. It's family in the way it's supposed to be, I think. I know that if I was stuck for anything, I could call up one of these people and say, "Help!" Their response (after "what happened?") would be, "What can we do?"
So, yeah, in a time of social isolation: Family.

NaNo begins in two days at a rate of about 2,000 words a day. This year, more than any other year, I don't know that I'll make it.
It doesn't really matter except to get past the block in my original writing and give me maybe a couple of months of story free and clear. My
fanfic100 challenges will be put on the backburner, although if anything comes along in thought, I'll be sure to write it down. There should be at least a couple out in the month.
And the muse is chomping at the bit to sign up for Atlantis: Liz/Ronan. Eep!
You know, the muse has been OD'ing on writing for so long, I don't think I remember how to not-write anymore.

In other news, someone on
metaquotes mentioned how cool it would be if the bad guys in real life had musical themesongs: think Jafar's rendition of 'Prince Ali' in Aladdin, or Scar's 'Be Prepared' in The Lion King. I'm tempted to parody something.
Oh, and a satire by
fee_absinthe for the Aussies: John Howard applies to become a Death Eater.
