You can buy day tickets but I just buy a weekend one that gets you in to everything but the cocktail party. (It's about $210 with the conversion)
I haven't got mine yet but that's nothing more than sheer laziness on my part. I'm waiting for another flister to sort her credit card issues and then I'll buy it.
As for the guests, i don't know. They usually announce them by now, I think, but I'm buying a ticket on spec. To be honest, I don't much care who the guests are, it's just a nice excuse to party for a weekend. (And seeing people dressed up ala last year's Darth Vadar is always worth a laugh.)
Meesh would know more than I. I saw we comment above about the hotel stuff... assuming they are at the Thistle again, I believe it works out cheaper to book yourself a hotel room as a guest and not part of the con.
