christmas-new year
Dec. 29th, 2009 07:55 pmChristmas Day was great. We don't have the family issues that others do, so it was great fun and celebration and catching up with cousins. The really delightful part is that my next cousin down has two kids - a daughter of five and a son of two.
D5 was adorable in a mermaid dress with a mermaid Barbie and biiiiig brown eyes as she went hunting for her little brother. "S2! S2! You've got a present! You have to open the present now! Come on, S2, open the present!" S2 was a bit nervous at first, and all the people got a bit much for him, but he was doing pretty well.
Scarily, my youngest cousin is now 18 and a young lady. Both she and her sister are Eurasian (like D5 and S2), and gorgeous. The boys are handsome, but the girls have all the benefits of mixed blood. Lucky for them!
I finished the pinch-hit for the
sga_santa on Christmas morning at 10am. Didn't get a beta for it, just read it through a couple of times, then mailed it. I thought it was pretty good, all things considered.

Boxing Day - also great. Had four friends over and watched the highlights of three seasons of Dr Who. From The Empty Child through to the finale of S1, School Reunion, the last two eps of S2 where Rose ends up in the alternate universe, and the last three eps of S3, where the Master comes into play and takes over the world before they turn time back.
It was good. And made a lot of things I'd heard about the show a whole heap clearer. Plus, I LOL'd at Jack towards the end of S3. "Hello." "Don't even start." "What, I can't say hello anymore?"
It was good to watch and discuss with friends. To take a marathon and put it all together to make sense of everything. I miss that.

Sunday. I'd had enough of people by this stage, but the parentals were having a 'family Christmas lunch' at their house - for family friends rather than the relatives. I didn't really have the energy to exert myself much and spent far more time than I should have hiding out in the stepbrother's room.
The big crash happened Sunday night and it's left me reeling for the last few days. Someone unloaded on one of my fics in a less-than-tactful manner, and it was painful - especially since the story wasn't particularly well-received in the first place. She realised it was out of line and deleted the comment, but not before I'd seen it. Which left me with a great weight that nobody else can see.
Since then, I don't feel like doing much of anything. I don't feel like much of anything, either.
I was going to start writing my YA novel these holidays. Right now, I'm not so sure I have it in me.
