That company sends her everywhere!

So, y'all know this last week I've been in Adelaide.

About the middle of this week they started making noises about bringing me back to Adelaide next week. The analyst that's here this week (Analyst D) is not available to be here next week, but the 2nd analyst that was here last week (Analyst I-S) was coming back. I was supposed to help (although I suspect I've been precious little help in the last few days - they're no longer asking for any help, although I don't know if that's because I look busy - I'm still doing a lot of programming stuff for Sydney - or because they're learning how to deal with their own problems, which is a good thing!)

Then, this morning, Analyst I-S made the suggestion that I could stay in Sydney since things in Sydney are a little tight with program changes coming thick and fast. And the project manager is all "oh, that's not a bad idea." Which I'm fine with, because, hey, MY OWN BED AND HOUSE AND FOOD AND INTERNET.

However, being management, nothing is confirmed, of course. So maybe I'm back to Adelaide next week, maybe I'm staying in Sydney...I'm the proverbial mushroom!

Anyway, about 15 mins ago, I got my flight-and-hotel itinerary for next week...and it says I'm going to Melbourne!

Oy vey. Can they make up their minds already?

And now I have an email from the project manager saying it's up to the Programming Team Lead...

[livejournal.com profile] saramund? I am so looking forward to seeing you, C, and the anklebiter. Do I have to have watched Farscape S1 so I can return it to you? Because I haven't. *is embarrassed*

Ugh! Indecisions, indecisions!

Although I enjoyed my work-travelling in Canberra last year and Melbourne this year, there was a lot of last-minute silliness like you're going through now.

For Canberra, it was thought that I would only need to visit for the first few weeks...but as the client demanded more and more, I ended up going for eight weeks straight. For my last trip alone, four days turned into five, and then five became eight, and then eight became nine - and for the last four nights, that included having to change rooms three times in the one hotel, and on the last night having to go to another hotel on the other side of the city.

For Melbourne, I got up at six one Thursday morning (ugh) to get ready to travel to the client site...only to discover in my email that at 1:30am that morning the client had cancelled the meeting and rescheduled it for the following Monday. Unfortunately, because of bookings already made, I couldn't remain in Melbourne until then...so the next day I flew back to Sydney, and the day after that I returned to Melbourne.

Recently, I thought (and hoped) that I would be returning to Melbourne for another project that was primarily based there, but my project manager in Malaysia had to get approval from someone in India - and that was the last I heard about it.

Whatever happens to you, I hope you don't get too frazzled. Stay well and take care :)

I'm sorry! That sounds incredibly frustrating!
