seldearSo, I may be biting off a bit more than I can chew.
I've linked to this site before, and the lovely quilt at the top there, made from the kaleidoscope block.
The kaleidoscope block is quite simple in reality; it's the fabric choices and the layout that makes it move. But it's a lot of seams and the layout can be a lot of work. I know what I'm trying to do, I'm just not so sure I'm capable of doing it.
Sometimes I think it's the story of my life.
The Sanctuary range of fabric by Patty Young (for Michael Miller fabrics) is a lovely bright choice - some beautiful fabrics here!

I spent much of yesterday cutting out isos triangles for the quilt, and then started pinning things up into place last night. This is a quilt I'm going to have to do the layout for before I get anywhere near the sewing machine.
And the start of the laying out:
It may be a bit difficult to see, thanks to shoddy pinning and placement, and the fact that my 'layout board' is a brown sheet. I've tried to fill in some of the corner squares to give a better idea of how it all should fall together.
One of the things I hope to achieve is the sense of circles and stars that this quilt has - movement and the blurring of lines.
I may need to order more fabric, too - I'm not sure I have enough to complete the quilt. Oh well. Cross that bridge when we come to it.
What do you think of the layout? There are going to be a lot of permutations before I'm anywhere near ready to sew this together!
I don't think I should be in at work today. My eyeballs feel fried and I can feel a little tickle in the back of my throat, prelude to a sore throat.
