Well, looks like I have this job for another month beyond the initial finishing date - until the end of March. Which could be good, or could be bad, depending on whether or not I can get more work after that.

My calcs suggest that I'll need to be employed for at least six months of this year to afford the RTW trip as I've got it planned out. I can still afford the 'to Disney/Vegas' and 'to China' portions as the work situation stands, I just won't be able to do it on a RTW ticket - especially since this time, the trip is less about staying with people and more about seeing the places I'm going. Which costs money.

Just Disney/Vegas/China isn't bad. It's just not as much as I wanted to do. Then again, my life is full of 'not as much as I wanted to do', so what's new?

Has anyone read 'Labyrinth' by Kate Mosse? I've been trying to find a copy at Borders for the last month and still can't seem to pin one down. My other reading inspiration (as of tonight) is going to be 'Somme Mud' - an account of WWI from an Australian who was in the trenches. I'm hoping to be able to finish an SG1 fic after reading it. (I have a lot of hope - have you noticed?)

And does anyone on my f-list surf? (No, not the internet, for the smartasses on the list.) How do you find it? I'm thinking of learning to surf because it's something I've wanted to learn for a while, and it's both exercise and an exercise in socialising beyond my comfort zone. (ie. academic, geeky, sci-fi kinda people.)

I'm planning for this to be the year that Sel Steps Out And Does Things She Doesn't Usually Do. Entropy and habit are against me, but we shall overcome!

[livejournal.com profile] arabel? That drawing group you mentioned waaaaaay back in October. Are they still doing meetings? And if so, when?
