The first day of any job is always taken up in paperwork. Any job. It's payroll and next-of-kin notifications and inductions and asset assignment...

In IT, the first day of any job is always taken up in paperwork and passwords.

Passwords for network login, for email access, for internet access, phone PINs, handset locks, for timesheets, for business systems, for...who knows!

So I got the paperwork and most of the passwords done.

And forgot the lock for the iPhone handset. Oops. Oh well, it's not like I had anything on there in the first place. My phone number hasn't yet been finalised.

It wasn't too bad, actually. I got from home to work in 45 mins, while getting home took a little longer.

They haven't started me on actual work yet, since I'm out on a project, so I'm mostly reading through doco in the office, trying to get a feel for what they want of me, and reminding myself not to panic.

The not-panicking part is probably the important part.
