seldearQuery of the day: what happens if, after the provisionals are counted, Kerry turns up trumps? I mean, he's already conceded. So, what happens then? Can he unconcede? Slim possibilities, but I'm curious - has it ever happened?
Oh, what the hey. I've been debating whether or not to post this all day. Might as well - I'll never get a better chance!
My take on the election:
It didn't really make that much difference whether it was Bush or Kerry to most of the rest of the world; it would still have been America.
Crudely put, I'd liken the situation for the world with America under Kerry as being ass-fucked with lube, and the situation for the world with America under Bush as being ass-fucked without lube. Ultimately, neither is to the liking of the rest of the world - I imagine most of us would rather not be ass-fucked at all, but if most of us got the choice, we'd prefer with lube than without.
And that's the last thing I'm gonna say on the US election.

Date: 2004-11-04 08:54 am (UTC)Actually, four years ago Gore conceded... and then when his people saw how close Florida was going to be, he unconceded. But that was a very different atmosphere -- there was no incumbant, and the margin was in the thousands of votes rather that the hundreds of thousands. Believe me, Kerry's people were crunching the numbers and if they thought there was any way he could have worked it, they would not have let him repeat what even they call Gore's "mistake" in the 2000 elections.
