Okay, so last night, maybe I got a squidge posty.
You would be too if you'd avoided watching or spoilering a show for 12 months and then watched 4 episodes in a row. 4 fairly good episodes, at that.
I've gone back and read a few people's opinions on this ep,
coloneljack,
sesaworuban,
allisnow, and
pixiesio to name the leaders, and have been intrigued by the variety of thoughts and ideas.
Now maybe it's just that I have a big thing with time travel but I didn't have to squidge my brain very hard to encapsulate this ep at all. It's just like S4's episode '2010'.
The SG-1 that we've been following went and got themselves stuck in a trouser of time that isn't very nice. (in '2010' it was with the Aschen, in 'Moebius' it was in Ancient Egypt with no way home.) So what they essentially did was to get a message across to another trouser of time so that somewhere, one of their alternate versions had a chance at taking the other option when the trousers bifurcate.
So, no, the SG-1 we saw at the end of 'Moebius' is technically not the same SG-1 that we saw in 'Threads'. But then, the SG-1 that we saw at the end of '2010' was technically not the same SG-1 that we saw in the episode preceding '2010' ('The Light'?) and the writers have more or less indicated that the important things (ie. the Sam/Jack ship - yes, I am biased) are still in place. At least until S9 comes along and they hit us up with something very bad.
It is their job!
So on the whole, I'm quite happy with the way the season ended. And now I need iconage. Or, at the least, a site with caps. And possibly fic. But no plotbunnies. Already have the start of one:
If his brain got frequent flyer points, Daniel figures his would be a lifetime member by now. Twice over. Maybe even three or four times over. It would get the priority seating, the cushy service, the first-class beds and the effusive airline assistants handing it flutes of champagne as it stepped on the plane for another mind-bending journey...

Date: 2005-03-03 12:23 pm (UTC)Hell, they could even bring Janet back -- but as much as I love her as a character, they're beginning to take that whole: "Completely dead or semi-dead? You guys seem to have a grey area in that regard," concept a little too far.
And season 8 is definitely SG's "season of death"!
