the [livejournal.com profile] frienditto thingy

Okay. Just to settle a few things in my mind.

If I have [livejournal.com profile] random_person_a ("A") friended, and they have [livejournal.com profile] frienditto ("FD") friended and A gives FD the details of his/her account, then FD can check out my friends-locked posts and archive them, correct?

However, if I don't have A friended (ie. they can't read any of my locked posts), then no matter what A does, FD won't be able to see my f-locked posts.

And if you have friended FD and/or given it your LJ userID & password (which, I must add, is the essentiality of internet stupidity - the first law of computer security is never give out your password to anyone) then the solution to locking them out would surely be to change your password?

Maybe it's more complex than that. *shrugs*

If you don't have the foggiest idea about that of which I speak, then I recommend this entry at [livejournal.com profile] havocthecat's LJ.

I also shamelessly quote [livejournal.com profile] lizbee, who says quite bluntly:

I was trying to come up with something meaningful to say about Friendditto, but nothing comes to mind except, If you are on my friends list, and you use Friendditto, you will not be on my friends list much longer. Simple, yes?

But I know that my f-list is far too intelligent to have done anything like this. Right? Right?!

Hey, one way you could check where [livejournal.com profile] frienditto is in the LJ network compared with you would be to find one of those 'degrees of separation' rubrics where you put your name and someone else's name in, and trace the links between you and them. If there's only two degrees, then you may be in trouble.

Someone's got to have written a program for 'degrees of separation' - surely!

OK ... this is the first that I have heard about it. But you have my word that if I am ever sucked in by this eeeeeevil cultist dickhead crap, you can be the very first to smack me upside the head, K?

It sounds like a pretty stupid thing though. *shakes head*

I assure that I have not and will not (and would not anyway) associate myself with this.
