In other news, it is 8am and my eyeballs feel like they're dried scallops.

And it's raining. Hoo, boy, is it ever raining!

On the plus side, I have recs! On the down side, I have at least a dozen people who gush about Atlantis on my f-list, and only two of them have recced anything. *prods errant peeps*

ps. I am fat. No, not compared to you or Kate Moss or Nicole Kidman or even Bridget Jones. I am fat compared to me as defined by the clothes I used to wear two years ago, I have put on many kilos (many many pounds for the peeps who can't convert). I'm flabby and ungainly and I'm exercising like crazy but the flab is not going. And it's getting depressing.

Hah! I know that a kilo is 2.4 pounds, or something similar to that. Approximately. :P So there!

I must say, I heartily wish that the States would just damn well convert already. It's such a pain in the ass to have to think in two measurement systems and know that there's one that you're not precise in because you haven't grown up in it and can't get enough practice in.

I normally love my country's yay-rah-we-are-indepdenent-spirits attitude, but that's a) taken a beating with the Shrub in the White House and b) nonexistent when it comes to a damn standardized measuring system.

Wow. Who'd've thought I had a soapbox when it came to measurements? :) No offense intended, by the way! All vehemence is completely not directed at you!

There are residual uses of the old imperial measurement system in Australia. I know most people know their height in feet and inches - but that's because saying 'five feet, four inches' sounds so much cooler than 'one-hundred-and-sixty-five centimetres' or 'one-point-six-five metres'.

And half the time I suspect that the US's insistence on doing things it's own way is simply to be a pain in the arse to the rest of the world.

I always thought that a kilo was approx 2 pounds - 1 pound ~ 490g. Not that it really matters, I suppose.

But I am getting adept at translating when the US peeps complain of it being 40F. (about 10C)
