Atlantis Day - Post 1

The Genii (or however you spell it) are suspicious people. As in really suspicious. Definitely bad blood there. And I’m sorry to the Torri or Joe fans, but David Hewlett is so. stealing. the show. Every word that comes out of his mouth is pure gold - and the fact that the character of McKay was unadulterated prick when he first came on the scene only makes it funnier. Now, when he’s not standing in the way of SG-1 and pissing off Sam, he’s unadulterated prick with panache.
Home:
Having a total squee moment between Liz and Simon here. Even possible Liz/McKay snarkness is wiped clear of the books. Ah well. No go. She’s stuck there and he’s stuck on Earth. Alas. *pets Liz/Simon* Admittedly, I knew the spoilers for this ep ahead of time, but I guess that the people who watch SG-1 as well as SGA twigged the instant they saw it was Hammond and not Jack.
Okay, I know why they did Hammond and not Jack (RDA not wanting to do any more filming than absolutely necessary), but it’s a bit weird to have them say they’d want to see General Hammond even when they’re in Atlantis at the briefing table. Or something. Because it was General O’Neill who saw them off and they know that.
And I’m sorry, but could Teyla’s skirt get any shorter?
Shipping
I think I’m pretty much still on the ‘all-ships possible’ front - including some slash ships, with leanings towards John/Teyla by preference. However, at this stage in the piece, I don’t think just ‘a scene’ together really warrants shipping. And I haven’t really seen any UST worth talking about with the exception of the scene where John puts the necklace around Teyla’s neck in the first ep. Everything else is repartee and snark, which can lead on to other things but hasn’t yet.
And I agree with D that the question of Simon is a big one for Liz.
Finally...
I suspect I’m in the minority, but I actually like a) Teyla, b) Rachel Luttrell’s acting. No, she doesn’t have a whole heap of stuff to say or do, but we can’t all get the good lines like McKay does, or be the head of the expedition or the head of the military contingent. And yes, Joe, Torri, and David are brilliant actors and talented, but I still like Rachel's acting for Teyla.
