A few quiet days, mostly spent netsurfing and making some icons. Nothing special.

In case you've been under a rock, the HP fandom has gone batshit insane over Half-Blood Prince. Observe the attendant iconage.

I'm not kidding here, this insanity comes complete with abuse, letter-writing campaigns, and wails, moans, rants, and gnashes of despair. Think 'Meridian' times one hundred. Yes. That bad.

I also have two HP icons that I made while I was thinking on other things.

and .

Artwork in the second one is by [livejournal.com profile] caladan_dd.

Otherwise, I am finding it very difficult to write right now. Depression and lethargy for starters. And the fact that I'm no longer surrounded by people from a specific fandom, which tends to egg me on.

I'm worried about posting too much and boring the pants off people. And considering that several of you keep up with my writing journal, I really don't want to spam the living daylights out of you. The downside of an LJ: being considerate of others' feelings.

Right now, I am in desperate need of someone to prod my muse - particularly with the original fic. I have people who can prod with SG-1, and people who can prod with SGA. Nobody's yet managed to really inspire me to BSG, Dr. Who, or House, and I haven't touched HP or JL in a while and don't really plan to either.

Yanno, more than anything else, I miss the feeling of having a story grip me by the throat and refuse to let go until it's done. It would be nice to have that again.

At the start of the year, one of my year's writing goals was to have a novel written by Christmas and we're into the second half of the year, so I'd better get a move on. I have the story ideas, I'm just feeling bleh.

Is there a pill you can take to 'un-bleh' yourself?

Probably not a pill, but perhaps an herbal remedy? What sort of things are you batting around for the novel? Have you started writing it yet? If I ever wrote an original work, I think it would be a bit of historical fiction. I could never write a mystery.

Novel idea is currently a modern setting with a fantasy twist. I previously began writing it as pure fantasy, but am merging a couple of ideas together.

Fantasy gives you a lot of flexibility, I think, as a writer. Of course, sometimes it's nice to have hard-and-fast rules. Hopefully the meh will leave you alone soon.

It's nice, isn't it? I can't remember if this is the person who's done a lot of artwork, or if she's only drawn a handful of images. The pics where she 'ages' Lupin are great.

Thanks hon, but no, there's nothing you can do right now. I might have something by the time I come to stay with you in DC, but right now, it's all fragments floating around, waiting for the lead to turn them into a proper stained-glass window.

I feel kind of bad in a way because I do agree with some of the things those ranters said. The book needed more showing and less telling. The book needed a competent editor. The Harry/Ginny ship (may it live forever) came out of nowhere and left in a Spidermanish way.

However, I respect JKR and myself too much to get all hystarical about it.

I agree on some points, but almost certain not in the way they're expressing themselves.

I need to ask you a few questions. Do you have a cell phone? The biggies are: would you like us to arrange for you to meet The Missy ([livejournal.com profile] mtgat) whilst you are here? She has 2 adorable moppets, and I could retriever her before I retrieve you, then will need to return her to her home as well.

SO incredibly SORRY (and there is NO sarcasm there) about the horror of HP fandom turning psycho. There's little worse.

Re: spamming us? Um...honey? It's YOUR JOURNAL. If you're feeling sad or frustrated, and we don't care, we'll unfriend you or skim past. If we love you, we want to know so we can send you hugs and flowers (virtual or otherwise). A case of goodies is, btw, in my downstairs fridge. I'm assuming those are for S!C?

Please don't feel like you shouldn't post. Ever. Hell, look at my moaning and lamenting in my journal. If folks don't like it, they don't have to read it, but it's MY JOURNAL, and it's the place for me to write and work things like that out.

I get to SEE YOU TOMORROW!!!!

Oh, and I take five pills a day to "un-bleh" myself...

Speaking of plans, Sel, I confirmed with the director last night that there's no problem with you attending one of the dress rehearsals next week. So we just have to get you there.

Would love to meet [livejournal.com profile] mtgat if it can be managed! If it can't or is too much trouble, then don't.

And the fandom is more amusing than horrific. Still psycho, but I'm not heavily involved in the fandom and never was.

Yes, the goodies are for [livejournal.com profile] squee_con! Very glad they arrived in time - was stressing about that. I'll see you tomorrow night arriving Chicago Midway 6pm-ish aboard UA1553.

I'm going to have to buy that bloody book, aren't I? The chances of me making it even a few weeks without being spoiled to death are rapidly decreasing to a big fat zero. (Not in any way getting at you btw, you've been brilliant at not letting things slip. Wish everyone had. :-()

I'm worried about posting too much and boring the pants off people.

Don't be daft. D is expecting daily updates. He keeps asking where you are now, and what you've been doing. I'm expecting him to start looking at maps when you get to the US. ;-)

And you're never boring. Don't ever think you are.

I'd recommend getting hold of a copy as soon as possible. It's quite enjoyable - and it does save from being spoiled.

You can tell D that I'm just outside of London for the moment and heading transAtlantic tomorrow! I think I might snooze on the flight. I'll probably need it.

Holy crap! I've never been into Harry Potter fandom before but followed your links and then links of links to see what people thought of the books and I'm still in shock. The worst of it seems to be the Ron/Hermione shippers trolling Harry/Hermoine shippers journals to gloat - and holy cow is it bad. I don't see *any* pairings in Harry Potter and this book took me totally by surprise - so I guess by these shippers journals I am doubly delusional *g*
