The Brisbane job has come up again: one month contract, or permanent.

And they want an answer in the next week.

EEK.

[livejournal.com profile] mebfeather? Do you know of anyone I could stay with up in Brisbane if I took the one month contract role? Family, friends, church people? The closer to the city the better, I think.

There'll be a phone interview and everything, but it's still slightly nerve wracking. I haven't been in a permanent role for several years now and the last one ended badly.

So, yes. Decisions.

I hate making decisions.

Definitely going to need them.

I think it's a measure of how far I've drifted that I don't even think about prayer when decisions like these come up. You can pray for that, too.

If you see someone named "Plotliner" ping you in a minute, that's me.

but... but.. permanent means you go away from me! I don't like that idea!

On the other hand - permanent is good for your budget and your paypacket (in the - every week, same thing sense).

Do you think you'd like it? Does it have prospects? Is it a good company? Do you want to live that far away from family on a full-time basis? Do you want to leave Sydney? All these are questions you need to ask.

BTW - if we do come to your place on Friday, we probably won't be there before 8.30 at the earliest... still want to do it that way, or do you want to turn up at our place for tea? (we're getting home between 7 and 7.30 pm at the moment - but on Friday I could make it home around 6 - Chris still at usual time). Your option.

I'm not totally convinced by the 'permanent possibilities', but yeah, it would be good for budget and paypacket.

*sighs* I have to call my mum about it...

Hm. I might head around to your place instead, then. 6-6:30-ish. Will let you know if things change much. (esp. re: job)

okay - let me know.. IT's just Chris is bloody busy atm (which is good for our budget) but it means LONG hours at work.

we'll have to figure out another time for us to come over - if you don't end up going north. And if you do - more reasons to come up to Brissy..

I'll be praying that you make the decision that's best for you. Personally I don't know about moving to Brissie permanently, but it's a nice city from what I've seen. Not Sydney, but not bad.

Well, nothing's Sydney.

Although, the Interchange at Chatswood Station? GONE.

Completely gone. Without a trace. Not there. Kaboom.

Well, nothing's Sydney.

You're absolutely right about that.

Although, the Interchange at Chatswood Station? GONE.

Whoa! How can it just disappear? It's been there for yonks.

I think they knocked it down for the reconstruction of the Chatswood-Epping line.

But it was such a shock when the train went through Chatswood the other night and the Interchange was GONE.

I'd love to stay with you and Iain, just not too long, you know?

They're asking for consideration ASAP. If I was going to start perm, they might give me until the 26th. If contract, will be next week.

So. Soon. Very soon. The permanent is sounding possible - although I'd need to take their interview first.

I personally would vote 'No' for a permie role... having done contracting - even with it's crap bits - I wouldn't go back permie unless there really *really* was no option.

Out of interest, why are you considering a permie role?

Mostly because it's work, and things tend to be quiet in the run-up to Christmas around here.

And the package is half-again as good as any permanent package I've previously had. And although I'd be working for a contracting firm, a lot of their work is for the government.

You're almost 30 years old. Maybe it's time for that permanent job again.

LOL - age is *no* barrier to the joys of contracting. :)
