Finally collected a number of thoughts together (it's a break from ficathons, anyway).

Teyla and Ronan seem more sibling-like to me than UST. Individually, they are good-looking people; as a pair of fighters, they're dynamite. As a couple...

Before 'Lost Boys' it was a possibility. Two good friends, banding together in similarity against the 'others' not from their galaxy, physical with each other, slipping over into love.

After 'Lost Boys' I'm squicked by the pairing, straight and plain.

Ironically, the scene that most fen I know are touting as 'totally hot OMG Teyla/Ronan', is the one that completely threw Teyla/Ronan out the window for me. Because I'm not seeing their interaction there as 'sexual tension translated into aggression'; I'm seeing a little brother taunting his big sister by taking her food in front of the authority figure and then mocking her ability to retaliate. We cue hair-pulling and thumping with fists, complete with guilty expressions when authority steps in.

The concept of Teyla and Ronan as big sister and little brother is only reinforced by a review of their previous scenes together: from Ronan pinning her ("See, sis, I'm not a little kid anymore!") to his consultation with her in 'Duet' ("How do you stand these people?"), from her holding the knife to his throat in 'Trinity' ("You might be bigger than me, now, but I am still older and you should have trusted my judgement!") to their exchange during 'Aurora' ("You lied to Dad with a straight face!" "I've had practise.")

Also: this essay on Teyla and Ronan has very good points about their dynamic. It also talks about Liz and her 'teacher voice' which helps explain a lot of the type of writing being done for the character this season.

Truly told, I was open to the idea of Teyla/Ronan until 'Lost Boys'. It wasn't my preferred pairing, but I thought it could work.

Now, it's entirely a sibling angle between them.

And, frankly, incest has never been my thing in fandom or out of it.

Which is why it'll take a lot of convincing from the show to convert me back to Teyla/Ronan if they're going to take it down that path. (Which, I understand from Jason Momoa, that they're not.)

And I mean a lot.

I totally agree with all you said. I had an inkling prior to 'Aurora' & 'Lost Boys' that TPTB might try to 'ship them, but now there is NO Way it would be convincing.

Plus, the Shep/Teyla kiss was a bit a tease of what could be to come...
