housing sitch

Am moving back home this weekend.
So, the parentals always planned to move out of their house when they did renovations.
I offered the family home. I figured it would be easier for a single woman to find somewhere to live, than for a couple to move their household into another. It would also be cheaper. And it was their house.
Originally, the plan was for the parentals to move in and take my room. With them would come the stepbrothers' cats, and the stepbrother, who would take the itty bitty study room since he had a job in a town north of us and our house is close to the freeway exit to get to that town. I would move to B1's room since she was living in a southern town at the time, and when stepbrother moved out to northern town to be close to his work, I'd get the study room.
There were tears and issues with B2, who was accustomed to having the run of the house herself, and generally being a reasonably spoiled brat. But for the most part, things were fine.
Then B1 took a long personal leave from her job, which meant I was sharing a room. It turned out that the stepbrother wasn't going to move out after all. And then B1 resigned, coming home to Sydney permanently.
Which meant the two of us, sharing a room.
It works when you're 15. It doesn't work when you're 30.
I snapped just before Christmas. My uncle had recently split from his wife and moved into a big empty house, so I moved in with him. It worked out okay. I had space. Nobody breathing down my neck. And a queen-sized bed again. Heaven.
Of course, the down side is that the uncle is a little on the anally-clean side of things, and the house is in a new condition, having been built six years ago, but only lived in for about six months of those six years. So things like slippers on the feet (natural oils tainting the carpet), picking everything up off the floor...really quite obsessive.
So, the parentals' plans for the house are finally coming to fruition. They're getting the main utilities connected to the house this week, and hoping to move in this Saturday. Even if they can't, they'll be gone in a week. And I can't stay where I am. The people who own the house where my uncle and I are staying have some friends who are coming to live in the house, so they want us out.
Plus, the stepbro has finally moved in with his girlfriend, although he's going to have a room in the parentals' renovated house - as is the other stepbro.
Good timing. Anyway, it's not that much 'moving' to do - just a suitcase's worth of clothing, and a couple of bags of stuff.

Went to the gym this afternoon after going on Monday. Went up in weights a little - ow. Owowowowowow.
One of the class tracks is the Angel theme song by Darling Violetta. First time I heard it, I nearly forgot to pump the weights I was so surprised. And there's a woman in the class who resembles
havocthecat - I think it's the hair.

Just showed my mother all the 'funny' vids that I've collected on LJ. She's highly entertained. :)

Date: 2007-01-10 12:57 pm (UTC)Wow. I don't think I could have coped living with that for more than a day or two.
And how come the gym here doesn't play the Angel theme song? That would be geeky enough to motivate me to go (at least for a while)

Date: 2007-01-11 10:40 pm (UTC)I admit to not understanding people who think this way (that everything has to be perfect). What's the point of a house if you don't live in it?
It's in the current routine for the Body Pump class (pushing weights) - they change it every three months or so. And although I've done the class to it a dozen times, it was only the other day that I noticed.

Date: 2007-01-12 12:26 am (UTC)You have an open invitation to come over and stay whenever you'd like.
I'm hoping for a good solution to the job sitch too, though it looks like I'm safe till at least Feb 1, which gets me health insurance for Feb :).
::hugs::
