Nowra update

Nowra is quiet. And oddly expensive for somewhere that's 'small town'. Apparently the prices are geared towards the tourist trade, which is the spring-summer-autumn crowd. Now that we're heading into winter, the tourists are gone but the prices haven't.
It's rather strange to come from working in an office that was mostly women (Rheem) to an office that is mostly men. Different culture.
I'm really going to need to set up some social networks around the town. Probably through a local church group, although some kind of sporting thing would be good, too. I either have to join a gym or a sporting group. The gym would be better for building muscle, the sporting group better for general socialising and health.
There's an ant crawling over the base of my flatscreen monitor. A single ant. I think he stowed away in the pomegranite I got off my grandmother; he seems kind of lost. Am contemplating putting him out of his misery - a single ant, all alone in a world of computer desks, without his colony community. Is he going to survive out here?
It'd be a bit lonely to be the only one of your kind around when you're used to being in a community.
I just killed him. RIP Mr. Ant.
Okay, I located the local university campus' accomodation site and have five pages of share accomodation in the surrounding towns around Nowra - there doesn't seem to be much in the town. And do you know how many of the numbers are no longer connected? Either a lot of people couldn't afford to live where they used to be living and had to move out, or there are a lot of students who've crashed and burned in the last couple of months!
I have about five places to check out tonight and tomorrow night, so we'll see how those go. Otherwise, I might have to start looking further out - there was an advert for a place in Berry, which would occasion actually having to wake up before 7am in order to arrive at work by 7:30. Although it would be an easy, casual drive, unlike the fraught 45 minutes of dodging and weaving and traffic lights and manic drivers that infests Sydney's roads.
Writing is something that happens to other people right now. So I'll just sit back and read Labyrinth by Kate Mosse. (I'm rather intrigued, it's pretty interesting.)
Must remember to call my mum, too.
