Like I said the other day, I'm having a bad case of covetousness right now.
The woman with the machine quilter that I took the quilt to suggested a tropical flower pattern, rather like the hibiscus pattern in purple and yellow on the border. And she did it, edge to edge. I spent most of today doing the binding - I think next time I'll cheat and use the machine to do it - I did
mebfeather and
iainc's quilt binding with a machine and it worked out fine, I think. Maybe a little rough, but I did it in an hour instead of seven!
(On the plus side, I got through the Terminator trilogy while I was doing the quilt binding. On the minus side, not a scrap of writing!)
It looks beautiful. I mean, I love the ones I've made for Heather and Bec, but...it's just the vibrancy of the colours that gets me. It's so pretty!!

The back of the quilt.

All right. Now to get it sent off!
I was hoping to get another one made before I went overseas, but I don't think I have the time.

Date: 2007-08-26 10:17 pm (UTC)ill-gottenwinnings to purchase material...and a sewing machine...and...Actually, the pattern is reasonably easy to put together: cut a bunch of squares the same size, layer them on top of each other, cut through the layers in whatever pattern you like, then swap several of the top layers with bottom ones. Sew together the coloured pieces in a square, sew the squares into rows. It took less time than the last one I made! *points at icon*
