If you are somewhere along this flight plan and you want to meet up, then let me know!

I don't have to do all of this, or even most of it. This is just a "would be nice to do some" list. I'm not going to hole up with my laptop everywhere I go this time. No, really, I'm not!

Phoenix
15 best places to see in Phoenix

-a jazz/blues bar - ClefClub - 736-38 S. Broad St, Avenue of the Arts.
-32 Degrees - an Old City hotspot on South 2nd Street where they serve shots in glasses made of ice. VIP Lounge with great (but expensive) bottle service. would like to try
-Moda - Unpretentious and mellow hangout on Chestnut Street. Good music. Get a Moda Monkey, sit back and relax. would like to try

Ortlieb's Jazzhaus and Chris' Jazz cafe (around the corner from our hotel, apparently) and Cafe Habana - 102 S. 21st St. (Between Chestnut and Sansom on 21st)

Boston
- things to do listed by [livejournal.com profile] chiroho
- will be in the US for Halloween - what to do?

London
- ...I should probably get those SG-12 tickets or something. Or maybe not and just hang around all weekend... Is SG-12 any good? Anyone know?
- several people to meet up with: I'll be in London on the weekend of the 16th-18th and the following weekend 24th-26th.

Hungary
[livejournal.com profile] beefree88? The flights I'm finding in and out of Hungary are to Budapest: is that okay? Also, one of the cheapest flights from Budapest->London leaves at 6am - would that be too difficult to get to the airport at that time or should I go by British Airways and pay for a flight that probably won't crash on the runway?

I'm dying for this job to be over now. Restless, can't write, can't think, can't sit still...

Re London, Cambridge is a short hop away by train from Kings' Cross. If you want to visit for a bit, we could do that?

Just a thought....

I'll try to fit it in, sure! There isn't any chance you could travel down to London and meet me? I have several people to catch up with in the greater London area...

I can do... but I don't know London at all well, so it'd need to be an easy place to find you...

Kings Cross Station is probably a good place. There's got to be something close to there, and it's where the trains come in, isn't it?

I can do late-ish nights (I tend to die after midnight, though). And if you want to sleep in, I'll use the mornings to write instead! It's not a biggie.

But, really, this is an opportunity for me to drag someone else out into the nightlife without taking 45 mins to an hour travelling alone to get home again! Plus, I'd really like to go to a jazz or blues club in the US. And we're in Philly over a weekend, too!

Oh, and get online this weekend if you can and ping me when you do! I'd like to discuss the finer points of Philly with you! *smooches*

ok; on the phx things:

i don't reccommend trying to hike piestewa peak. its still going to be hotter out during the day than you may expect, and its a pretty decent hike. also, i can not physically make that hike myself. if you really have your heart set on hiking someplace, my friend mel is much more of a hiker, and may be able to accompany you tuesday on such an adventure. i'll ask her.

as for the rest, the garden and the arboretum are both outside, and the heard and fashion square are in. we could prolly do both the heard and fashion square in the same day, but if you want to do either of the others, it would pretty much be the only thign to fit into thursday. its too bad you're leavign friday am, as friday pm is the first friday art walk downtown.

I was thinking of doing the outdoorsy things on the days when you had to work. As long as they're not situated somewhere in the middle of nowhere, I can wander around, entertain myself, and if I get really stuck, take out a book/notepad, find a corner, and read/write.

Date: 2007-09-20 02:49 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] twilightdweller.livejournal.com
problem is sweet, all of the outdoorsy things aren't exactly accessible from where i live. the desert botanical garden is a good 30-45 min drive (on freeways) from here, the boyce thompson arboretum is about an hour and a half (again, by freeway), and piestewa peak about 20-30 mins drive. public transportation in phx. is poorly structured and generally unsafe.

as long as she doesn't have to work state fair set up tuesday morning, mel has said she would be more than happy to pick you up and take you hiking someplace, though she does not recommend piestewa peak due to the difficulty of the climb, and its tendency to be v. v. crowded with people trying to make it and not so much doing so. i hate to be horrid and discouraging, but i wasn't kidding when i warned you about how i would be working the first 2 days, and you'd be stuck at my house, and how bad i felt about it, and how you said that was fine because you expected to sleep most of the first 2 days.

Well, it is all dependant on how I deal with the jetlag. And, like I said, this is a "would be nice to do" list, not an "absolutely must".

I'm looking at options, that's all!

Date: 2007-09-20 03:09 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] twilightdweller.livejournal.com
options are great, i just don't want you to be dissapointed when you get here. plus i know how hard it is for people who live in places that have public transit to get the concept that we don't, really, and also to get a handle on just how big and spread out the phoenix metro area is. keep looking at your options, let me know if you have any questions, and we'll do what ever you decide you want to do most thursday (except hike, for aforementioned reasons).

question for you: what kind of shopping(and i'm assuming you want to do some, based on fashion square being on your list) do you really want to do while you're here?

Mostly, I'd like to look around, I think. I'm not out to buy too much at this end of the trip, unless I encounter a really awesome material/fabric store with quilting materials galore! :D

So mostly windowshopping, I think.

Or, I'm happy to sit in your house and watch your Buffy and Angel DVDs. ;)

so i should take you to the discount fabric warehouse that i worship and adore as mecca for all things fabric?

Whatever's okay by you and Wes. If there are things that you don't want to do, I'll try to get them done on the Monday or Tuesday I'm in Houston, rather than the weekend.

I have to contact at least one person about meeting somewhere around Houston during those two days. Eek. I should probably get that arranged. Will talk to you this weekend about areas and locations and neighbourhoods, etc.

Once you have your dates confirmed, I'll see what I can do. My seasonal job starts at the end of this month, so I'll check all schedules. And hey, H has his own car now and I'm inclined to let his mother throw her hissy fit!

Heh. Hon, I'm definitely in Philadelphia on the 26th, 27th, and 28th October - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, flying out to Boston on the Monday.

I'd love to see you if you can make it. If you need somewhere to stay, then we can probably smuggle you into our room overnight, too!

They've announced the guests for SG12, now, if youo want to find out who's going to be there. I think Martouf (Whose real name escapes me right now) will be. And a few others.

Yeah. I am helpful.

*hugs* It's fine. I should do the legwork myself, really!

And if I don't actually attend the con, I won't mind terribly much. (Unless, you know, RDA, AT, or Ben Browder turn up, in which case, I'll be cursing myself!) It'll be great to see you again, anyway!

Budapest is okay, just notify me where you arrive, Ferihegy I or II. I guess 6AM leave means about 7.30AM arrival. It's managable, just I have to leave home earlier than you so I'll be a bit sleepy:)

From: [identity profile] beefree88.livejournal.com
Sorry, you mean Bp to London. I think It's okay, just as I said it means getting up very early. Especially considering that you have to get to the airport an hour earlier. I'll check the details than get back to you

Date: 2007-09-20 08:31 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] beefree88.livejournal.com
Checked the details. The only way to get to the airport at 5AM (for the 6AM departure) is by car. There's no way that I drive that early, so the option would be to take a taxi to Budapest or to sleep that night close to the airport. Anyway are we still talking about Friday or Saturday?

Date: 2007-09-20 10:15 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] seldearslj.livejournal.com
Friday. I can probably find a flight with a more reasonable departure time. That was just the el cheapo flight. (and no wonder either)

I hope you have lots of fun. I found out that hubby and I are both working that weekend, and that I apparently don't get vacation time until January. Maybe I'll catch the next one. Or, I've already promised people that if I ever become a rich author, I'm making a tour of Australia ;)

Dang. I'm sorry we can't meet up! :(

But definitely Australia. Hurry up on the rich author front, eh? :)
