travelly plan-y things...

If you are somewhere along this flight plan and you want to meet up, then let me know!
I don't have to do all of this, or even most of it. This is just a "would be nice to do some" list. I'm not going to hole up with my laptop everywhere I go this time. No, really, I'm not!
Phoenix
15 best places to see in Phoenix
Heard Museum
Desert Garden (mum would probably love)
Piestewa Peak
Boyce Thompson Arboretum
Scottsdale Fashion Square
Houston
* clubs, bars, places to sit and drink and observe
* material shopping
* Night Life in Houston - The Age
* Houston clubs listing
Sacramento
-the park in the middle of town
-Melting Pot!
Philadelphia
-naked chocolate cafe: 1317 Walnut Street,
-a jazz/blues bar - ClefClub - 736-38 S. Broad St, Avenue of the Arts.
-32 Degrees - an Old City hotspot on South 2nd Street where they serve shots in glasses made of ice. VIP Lounge with great (but expensive) bottle service. would like to try
-Moda - Unpretentious and mellow hangout on Chestnut Street. Good music. Get a Moda Monkey, sit back and relax. would like to try
Ortlieb's Jazzhaus and Chris' Jazz cafe (around the corner from our hotel, apparently) and Cafe Habana - 102 S. 21st St. (Between Chestnut and Sansom on 21st)
Boston
- things to do listed by
chiroho
- will be in the US for Halloween - what to do?
London
- ...I should probably get those SG-12 tickets or something. Or maybe not and just hang around all weekend... Is SG-12 any good? Anyone know?
- several people to meet up with: I'll be in London on the weekend of the 16th-18th and the following weekend 24th-26th.
Hungary
beefree88? The flights I'm finding in and out of Hungary are to Budapest: is that okay? Also, one of the cheapest flights from Budapest->London leaves at 6am - would that be too difficult to get to the airport at that time or should I go by British Airways and pay for a flight that probably won't crash on the runway?
I'm dying for this job to be over now. Restless, can't write, can't think, can't sit still...

Date: 2007-09-20 12:36 am (UTC)But, really, this is an opportunity for me to drag someone else out into the nightlife without taking 45 mins to an hour travelling alone to get home again! Plus, I'd really like to go to a jazz or blues club in the US. And we're in Philly over a weekend, too!

Date: 2007-09-19 03:48 pm (UTC)i don't reccommend trying to hike piestewa peak. its still going to be hotter out during the day than you may expect, and its a pretty decent hike. also, i can not physically make that hike myself. if you really have your heart set on hiking someplace, my friend mel is much more of a hiker, and may be able to accompany you tuesday on such an adventure. i'll ask her.
as for the rest, the garden and the arboretum are both outside, and the heard and fashion square are in. we could prolly do both the heard and fashion square in the same day, but if you want to do either of the others, it would pretty much be the only thign to fit into thursday. its too bad you're leavign friday am, as friday pm is the first friday art walk downtown.

Date: 2007-09-20 02:49 am (UTC)as long as she doesn't have to work state fair set up tuesday morning, mel has said she would be more than happy to pick you up and take you hiking someplace, though she does not recommend piestewa peak due to the difficulty of the climb, and its tendency to be v. v. crowded with people trying to make it and not so much doing so. i hate to be horrid and discouraging, but i wasn't kidding when i warned you about how i would be working the first 2 days, and you'd be stuck at my house, and how bad i felt about it, and how you said that was fine because you expected to sleep most of the first 2 days.

Date: 2007-09-20 03:09 am (UTC)question for you: what kind of shopping(and i'm assuming you want to do some, based on fashion square being on your list) do you really want to do while you're here?
