[livejournal.com profile] geneeste? I'm in Boston now and safe and sound!

It was lovely to meet up with you and [livejournal.com profile] slm76 and [livejournal.com profile] ileliberte over the weekend, and I'm just sorry I didn't get to see [livejournal.com profile] snoggingpicard and [livejournal.com profile] raisintorte while I was at it! *sadface*

So far, I liked Philadelphia better.

The taxi trip in from the airport was nice (if expensive) but arriving at the Youth Hostel... I was assigned to a lower bunk, which seemed to already have someone's stuff in it as well has having been slept in last night. The corresponding locker has a lock on it. The three other beds around it appear to have been used, while two lie pristine in the far corner.

It may be that someone just left their stuff on the bunk. Or that someone hasn't checked out. But it's not a nice feeling to come in to where you're staying and realise that someone else hasn't moved out yet. It leaves a distinct feeling of unwelcomeness.

The plus side is that the hostel has free wireless if you have a laptop...but requires you to pay if you don't have a lappy! BWAHAHAHA!

Now, tonight's spot of fun: working out how to get across to Cambridge (Boston's University City) in time to meet [livejournal.com profile] wneleh...

[livejournal.com profile] chiroho? Are we doing lunch tomorrow or Wednesday?

Probably not tomorrow because of this. Boston will be an absolute zoo - and you may find you have your own issues getting around.

On Wednesday I have a meeting (which I run and hence can't miss) at 12 for around 30 minutes, so it's unlikely I'd be able to meet much before 1:30 - though you never know. Does that work for you? If so, where do you want to meet?

BTW, something you may want to investigate tomorrow in order to stay away from the crowds is the possibility of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. It's a brilliant gallery if you like that sort of thing, and the special exhibits are usually good as well. And one thing I can nearly guarantee, if you're in a museum you're not likely to be running into Red Sox Nation. ;-)

Ah, yes. I remember seeing that on the TV. It'll be big, then? I think the museum of Fine Arts is just around the corner, actually.

Otherwise, Wednesday lunch is good. Are you able to get into the city, or would you prefer I met you somewhere along the T-network?

Also, I've discovered that my flight on Thursday isn't until 6pm, so if Thursday lunch is better for you - given the parade and your meeting - then that's manageable, too!

Last time a couple of million people turned out. While I don't think it will be as large this time around, there are bound to be a lot of people showing up. It's always a big deal here in Boston when the Red Sox win the world series.

As for Thursday, I think I have a 2pm and a 3pm, so Wed may still be best. Easiest for me is somewhere along the Green Line - I'm coming from Lechmere which is the last stop on the E track. Where are you planning to be? We could meet in the Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market area as there are lots of places to grab lunch around there. Totally up to you though, and what you plan on doing.

The Green-T line is excellent - I'm staying at the hostel just off the Hynes T station.

And I've just found the area you've spoken of - sounds good. Give me a time and a place (as specific as possible) and I'll meet you then!

How about 1pm on the side of Faneuil Hall facing Quincy Market - which would be the southern entrance I believe. There should be steps on that side, but I don't remember exactly. That work for you?

I should be there around 1ish depending on the T. It might be slightly later though.

*waves goodbye* Glad you enjoyed Philly! Next time we'll definitely have to meet up -- though I don't know where I'll be in a few years time. :) Have fun on the rest of your trip!!!

Of course, you could head downtown and be a part of history *g*

Glad to hear you're at your next stop. Going into work today was not fun. Still, it was great to see you again. I hope it's not another 3 years before the next meet up :)

I think I'm going to head downtown and see just how bad 'history' is. :)

Parade doesn't start until noon, but if I want to get some travelling in, I'd better start off, I think!
