DragonCon: the costumes!

seldearDragonCon: words alone cannot suffice. There are pictures, they they don't describe the amazing panoply of people - all types and kinds here. They can give you an idea, but they can't paint you the full picture. It's amazing. Really, really amazing.
Beeltejuice has his photo taken with a Japanese tourist, while a couple of Elfquest elves look on, their pointy ears angling out past a gentleman in a brown bowler with steampunk glasses. An Elf poses with Aayla Secura whose leather outfit is really awesome and whose lekku are bound with brown leather. They're passed by a group of weapon-wielding military, among whose number are counted two black-cloaked and hooeded people. The gold of their hood-edging is a stark contrast to their clothing.
I walked past some Starship Troopers this morning, plodded along behind a gentleman in white spats, and sat in the Loft, watching the three fairies from Sleeping Beauty - Flora, Fauna, and Meriweather - have their photos taken along side assorted fairies. A girl in a Wonder Woman bustiere and jeans is passed by a french lady in a bustle and hat. The fine lady has her photo taken by a kimono-clad woman, and they pass a girl in peasant outfit with an exclamation mark over her head.
Grecian ladies pass anime characters, and while there was a Dark Helmet last night, he's nowhere to be seen today, while Where's Wally is found by assorted people, including an anime cat.
I've seen two Sailor Scouts, and countless steampunks. There's a Victorian lady wandering around, resplendent in red with a little cocked hat on her forehead, and so many Jayne hats. There are pirates and stormtroopers, punks and Stargate military.
Barbarains in chain mail - there's a definite Conan-and-wife couple, and a whole set of Princess Leias. Jedi wander freely with their lightsaber's lit…Oh wow. There's a whole set of Disney villains! I count…Maleficient, Jafa, The Evil Queen from Snow White, oh, and another Jafar and another Maleficient. This morning, I sat next to Cinderella and Prince Charmin in the BSG talk, with Jayne on the other side.
A girl in a flapper dress is wandering around down there, and there are more than a few people with wings - both the feathered and the batlike sort. There's enough boobage to make Victoria Secret models weep, and plenty of Trek uniforms - one of whom is on a girl wearing spock ears made out of novelty ballooons.
The barbarians are still posting - especially the barbarian girl - chainmail bikinis. Heath Ledger's Joker is just going down the escalator, and there's Wolverine! The Exclamation Mark peasant girl has been joined by an Exclamation Mark hunter/forester. Apparently it's a games questing thing?
This is awesome, and such fun.
Last night there were playboy bunnies, at least one of whom looked like he was transsexual. The funny part of the story? The way the guys checked him out…then realised it wasn't quite the statuesque woman they thought it was and doubletook.
There's a Jack Sparrow and an Anamaria doing the rounds - Jack's still tied to his stake from PotC II, and there's a Klingon in the lounge, talking on a mobile phone. Really good makeup-mask.
No furries yet - at least none that I've seen.
A female Han Solo, a female Darth Vader complete with bodice, a male Princess Leia in the Death Star white dress, a pink stormtrooper. God bless 'em - every one!
I feel distinctly inadequate with my Six dress. There's even a girl who's wandering around with a sign saying "Lost my costume, can I have yours?"
Interrupted by John [number redacted] - first scalp of the con :D
Accents - a fascinating thing. The Americans pronounce it 'Marry-yot', with emphasis on the 'yot' bit. I'm 'Marry-it' with emphasis on the 'Mar' part. It's all fun and games until you have to spell the damn thing.
It's mayhem in here; amusing, delightful, entertaining mayhem, but mayhem nevertheless.
Oh, just spotted another number Six dress.
And a Phoenix in white and gold. There's a Green Arrow, several Wonder Women, and I thought I saw a Superman earlier this morning. And I just spotted Captain America.
More to come when I have time. I'll have some photos up when I get home, but probably not too many.
