Nov. 3rd, 2009 11:34 pmLast week's Tuesday score: 9-1 loss.
The team we played against had 7 players. We had 15. You only need to field 11 players, so we had plenty of subs.
This week's Tuesday score against last week's '2nds team' (most of whom look suspiciously like their '1sts team': 6-3 loss.
This week, they had 8 players, 6 of whom had played the previous game as well. We had 15 players again.
Yes, I know. How embarrassment. However, there is a catch.
The catch? The team we played against has ex-Hockeyroos. ie. International-level players. And, boy, did it show! The skills, the passing, the teamwork... Our team? Is 80% 3rd grade suburban, with a handful of players at 2nd grade suburban. We're good enough against our own grades; not so much against these women (most of whom play 1st grade and in another competition).
So, huh, yeah. Winning is definitely not on the cards when playing against these teams. Definitely Not On The Cards.
Still, they were good games. I think we acquitted ourselves quite reasonably, given that these players were once international standard (maybe ten, twenty years ago, but still) and we're not nor have ever been even vaguely close to international standard.

Time to try for sleep. Exhausted beyond ability to relax, you know?
