sick

So, I've been sick/run-down for the last four days. Took Thursday afternoon off, didn't go to work Friday, didn't go in today.

I hate being sick. I really really loathe it. And this isn't the kind of full-blown thing that has the decency to come and go; it's a viral thing which just stays and clings and clings and ugh.

Saw the doc today after it wasn't getting any better on the weekend. He said I should stay home for the next few days and rest. Which sounds really nice. I'm just...busy at work. And there are things to be done. And things that only I can do.

But if I don't get rid of this now, it will linger all through winter and...no. Just, no.

Making chicken soup, though. Smells nice.

Take it easy, Sel. For a long time, I used to fight and/or ignore sickness and keep soldiering on at work - but the result was lingering foulness (the sickness, not me) and I'd feel worse longer.

A few years ago, I finally embraced resting until sickness gone, and it was one of those discoveries I wish I'd made years earlier.

Like death and taxes, work is inevitable - it will be still be there when you return, and unless it's something life-threatening like the phaser-banks not working don't worry about it.

So rest, and relax, and get better faster :)

Well, work on getting better, then! :P

(picks up eyes from tabletop and puts them back in sockets)

What the - oh, not again...

(taps head a few times to seat eyeballs correctly)

That's better. Off to the pub!

(walks into a bar)

OOF! Who put...that railing there...

As annoying as it is, the best thing to do is rest and let this thing take its course. Otherwise you'll be dealing with it for ages and ages, and it'll disrupt more than just a few days. :(

I've been marathoning SGA, these last few days. Exams are approaching, so it's inevitable that I marathon something. *g* Skipped the first season, but I've just finished season two. I love when John says, "he cares for you more than you know." Atlantis always makes me think of you. :)

Ah, the old days, the gold days...

*sigh* How long ago it seems...

Oh, sorry. Just reminiscing about watching SGA and hoping that they'd eventually work the John/Teyla dynamic the way it should be.

:/

Ah, yeah, I know what you mean. Hopefully, we'll get the movie one day, and have some progress/resolution/answers.

Truly, I doubt the movie will give us what we want.

BUT...

I doubt it too. :( I'm STILL hanging out for the last SG1 movie - if it ever happens, of course - hoping that it has an an established relationship between Sam and Jack.

Oh yes? *is intrigued* Do tell. Or are you sworn to secrecy?

Not at all! :D

It's being written by some fans who like the John/Teyla angle of the show (as well as all the other friendships) and it goes places where the show barely even brushed up against.

I'm one of the 'draft betas' and I'm loving what they're doing with it. They've really stopped and thought about what to do with the various characters and their possible storylines.

And there are other 'draft betas' also reading it - some are gen fans, a couple are John/Rodney fans, but they're all enjoying it, too!
