3:30pm: They're discharging her. I'm guessing that means her memory's (mostly) back. Stepdad seems to think she's okay. There'll be a few more tests, but it looks like we're out of the woods. At least for the moment.

I'm going around to cook dinner now. Stepdad cancelled the party on Monday and has arranged for her to get the week on leave. (Which she'll just spend gardening. But that's relaxing, too!) Everyone's going to be keeping a careful eye on her for the next few days, though!

8:45pm: She's okay. Her memory's back up to the point at which we think she had the brain blip. Then she doesn't remember anything until late last night when she started recalling stuff. Had dinner at their house tonight. Cue lots of jokes about remembering, etc. Seems okay and we're very grateful.

Thanks for the support, guys.

I know it's a scary time, but TIAs often resolve with no permanent damage. They'll whack her on warfarin (if she's not on it already) and that'll reduce the likelihood of another.

Glad to hear you're all coping okay. Hang in there Sel. :) *hugs*

I think the worst part was not knowing what she'd remember or wouldn't remember. It was like her memory was down and you couldn't access the server. So she didn't remember conversations we'd had five minutes ago and had to keep answering the same questions.

A bit like dealing with my grandmother, who's 94 and has dementia. Except my grandmother asks less questions.

It's a big relief. There's the old saw about not knowing what you have until you've lost it but...

This was very unexpected and very scary.

Thanks. You, too!

I'm glad it's turning out OK! Hopefully this won't happen again. Did they say why or is it one of those things that happens and no one knows why?

Right now it's one of those things that happens. The tests they did turned up nothing unusual and her memory is back (except for the 8 hours when she had no event or short-term memory) so she's going back in for a few more tests and hopefully it was an anomaly and won't happen for, oh, another thirty years or ever again.

OMG. Reading your other posts, even though I'd seen this one first, was awful. All of you must have been so scared!

I'm praying that her recovery continues. *hugs*

Thanks, hon. It was all the more subtly stressful I think, because she didn't remember conversations we'd had five minutes ago. And that cuts out a lot of interaction, makes it difficult to keep moving with the person without ending up feeling like you're covering the same ground over. Who are you when you don't have your memory?

So yes, we're glad it seems to be over and we're out of the woods. *clings*

*hugs* I'm so relieved. I didn't see any of this til it was over, sorry. But I'm glad to hear she's going to be OK.

Very glad your mum's okay, and especially that you could have a family dinner with jokes about memory.

Bit late catching up with LJ, but I hope she carries on to recover nicely.
