I'd appreciate it if the young man standing behind the desk, paying no attention to anyone but his computer game, would perhaps look up to see whether any of the guests are trying to get his attention.

He's not getting a tip, and I think I'm going to find a feedback form and mark him down as 'bad service'. Even after giving me a menu, I had to cue him twice to come and take my order - once with a glance, the second time by saying "I'm ready to order."

I don't get people. If you're in a service role, then you should bloody well serve.

It's not as though he's apparently doing anything for this role - he seems to be on the computer, and seems to have plenty of time to check the game scores coming up on the TV.

Okay, I couldn't see it, but he was so intent on it, I figured it was a game or something. He wasn't paying attention to anyone in the lounge to check if they needed anything...although he was pretty fast to react to the hotel staff who came around for a while - two younger women.
