It's been a couple of weeks since I posted anything to do with my life. Or read my f-list. Sorry if you've been through a crisis in the last couple of weeks and I haven't been paying attention. Let me know if I can help!

job

So, that's four months I've been out of a job. They're not looking particularly plentiful on the ground right now, and it's a little depressing.

The positive side of things is that my stepdad has a business that he's looking to expand, and I think it's something that I can work with - the time is flexible and would allow for both my writing and quilting endeavours.

The problem would be scheduling my hours for work and play and other stuff. I'm not very good at that.

It's been a bad year for pets - first my kitten, then the stepbro's Russian Blue. Mine died of old age, hers was apparently a genetic heart weakness due to inbreeding.

I'm seriously thinking about getting another one. Two, actually - one for B1 and one for me. *goes and looks at animal shelters*

There's this adorable duo called 'Fortune' and 'Cookie' and they so cute! But I'd have to go into Newtown - and drag the sistren along to look, too... Major effort, that.

Hockey is going well. Had the Veterans' team dinner on Monday night and had a very good night.

The Vets' comp is over, but we've still got the Open semifinals going.

I've enjoyed playing for this team this year - I knew I would, even when I was disappointed at being graded down to it. Golds are lower-key than the top team (Reds), and we're not as solidly skilled as the Reds (who have soundly defeated all the other teams in their comp and are sitting at the top of their ladder) but we're still doing pretty well in our comp - we came 2nd overall in the ladder, with about 4 draws and a couple of losses.

But it's a good team. Solid and friendly, and I don't feel bad if I don't score goals. Goal scoring in Reds was very much a 'me, myself, and I' proposition - when you had the ball, you went for the straight hit to goals. Golds work more as a team - our biggest win - 7-0 - was mostly because we were passing the ball like maniacs, back and forth in the goal circle, around the goalie and the backs, and then clear into the goal. Those 7 goals? Were scored by 7 different people. That's teamwork.

So, yes, hockey has worked out this year - and been a good exercise on all fronts for me.

Played the semi-finals on Sunday against a team in our comp that we (privately) call the Bitchy Team. Lost. We play the finals this weekend against junior team of Bitchy Team (U-18s)...and if we win, we get to take on Bitchy Team again.

*hopes*

I should probably be doing some training before then, right? I was going to go to a Body Step class this morning...and didn't. It should be finishing right about now...

--

I think I might do some quilting, and then take the laptop in to the cafe and work on my stepdad's site. Getting out of the house is probably a good idea...

I'll start reading my f-list again this week.

*hugs you* I have been awol as well - it's nice to see posts from you at the top of my list. I'm sorry the job hunt is so slow - my fingers are very much crossed for you. And I hope that the new furball acquisition plan takes hold. :D I'm also REALLY glad that hockey is so enjoyable - it was clear last year that you loved the sport and the challenge but that the dynamics were a hassle, and it's nice to see that's better this year.

Yes, but you've had surgery and personal issues to sort out. *hugs* I'm glad you're back, too, though - it's always good to read your posts!

The hockey dynamics are definitely better this year, and I'm more satisfied with the games - it's still challenging, but at least I don't feel guilty or bad when I fail.

I'm sorry you haven't been able to find a job yet. What sort of work are you looking for?

Are you free next week for a coffee?

Yes, I'm free! Definitely! Maybe next Thursday morning in Hornsby?

Probably better to go for 10:45 - I'll be in a gym class until 10:30 and should probably clean up before I meet you. :)

Four months already? Good grief.

I hope you get something to work with for your stepdad - and beyond that, other work.

That's good about hockey.

Last but not least, I very much recommend getting two cats. One cat is great, but two cats is better - not only do they keep each other company when us staff aren't there, but there's twice the LOLcat fun to enjoy when we are :)

Yeah, it's kinda flown, hasn't it?

And I'm going to talk to B1 about going into town and looking at the cats next week sometime. Just had a talk with B2 about cattage...

What did B2 say?

Yes, although she doesn't want to be looking after it. :)
