1. Losing one's passport.
2. Two months before travelling to China.
3. Where a visa is required.
4. And those two months include the Christmas period.
5. In which reapplying for said passport requires a 'proof of citizenship' because apparently a previously-held passport is not sufficient.
6. Copy of said 'proof of citizenship' (in this case a birth certificate) may also have been lost.
7. The process of getting a new one of which is a bureaucratic nightmare.

*le sigh*

No job, little writing. Not enough sleep, too much food.

BLEH.

Thanks so much for this, hon. Life just feels...exhausting. And tired. And exhausting. And blah. It's nice to 'see' a friendly, comforting 'face' every now and then.

It just involves a lot of running around, effort, and frustration. None of which are happymaking...

Oh man. As someone who went through a PASSPORT SAGA 2011 experience, I feel your pain. My advice? Whatever forms you need to fill out, grab MULTIPLE copies. I'm an intelligent enough person, but between my form writing nerves and the nerves of my identity sponsor, we went through an embarrassing number. A single mistake/incorrectly formed letter means the whole form is void.

Best of luck with it all, I wouldn't worry too much about the time, two months will be fine. You can pay an express fee after the fact - so if it looks like it won't reach you in time, weeks after you've applied, you can then pay the express fee. Obviously confirm that, though.

If it was, say, March to May, or August to October, then sure, I'd say that 2 months is eough. It's the 'getting it before Christmas, and then getting the visa to China' that worries me...

But, yeah, I'm going to have to expedite it all...and pay all the fees to get this thing going.

Just so draining.

Even with Christmas, I'd think you'll be okay, barring any major catastrophes. Mine arrived in about a week without any express fee, which is much much less.

Of course, only time will tell. *G*

:(

I hope the NOMM brings you some cheer this weekend. Last year was great fun.

I'm especially looking forward to the NOMM after a truly nuts week that included not getting any sleep for one 36-hour stretch due to sever dental pain, and running around most of the time having to do various things. As well, I've ditched my original NaNo idea - too depressing to write about in a fun month - and I'm eager to "relax" with my crazy new premise of "Wilbur Smith with zombies".

Looking forward to seeing you and the rest of the NaNo-gang tomorrow!

:)
