kitchen renovations

We're getting our kitchen renovated, which meant that we had to put everything in boxes, move it to the lounge room, and tear out the old stuff, either relocating it downstairs in the garage, or tossing it out.

Dark wood, the centre benchtop, stuff everywhere. The long bench in the middle of the room is a bit inconvenient for travel - you have to go all the way around it in order to get out. The stove is enclosed, with no space either side to do food prep, and the oven hasn't worked for at least a decade. (We've been using an old microwave that doubles as a convection oven - it's just about on its last legs, but you can't cook anything big in it.)
Last Wednesday my stepdad and a guy he's used for work before started ripping out the cupboards, cabinetry, stove, sink, oven, and dishwasher:

So empty:
The plan is to put in most of a new kitchen cabinetry set we bought off eBay - with new stove, working oven, and sink - supplement it with some extra cabinetry, put in a benchtop from Bunnings. Nice and easy and a little bit patchwork, but it'll be new, not-dark, and easier to keep clean!
Some of the new cabinetry laid out so we can see what we have and what we need:
The stove, oven, and sink are pretty much going back where they were, but we'll have food prep areas on both sides of the stove, with cabinets above. There'll be a food prep island in the middle with a cabinet underneath it for keeping dishware and stuff.
Of course, the result is that all the stuff in the old cabinets had to go somewhere, so this is presently the state of my sewing space:
It's going to take a while to get it all done. For the moment, we're cooking in the laundry. It's not ideal, but what can you do?
