this is the news...
Apr. 19th, 2007 06:16 pmMy current work contract expires in a week's time. Truth be told, I'm kinda relieved. While I like the people here and enjoyed the work, I'm starting to feel a yearning for the open road again.
Truthfully told, while I'm an okay programmer, it's not anything in which I have passion. In case you hadn't noticed. *wry smile*

Anyway, I have my next contract lined up and all I have to do is sign. Three months as an ABAP programmer down in Nowra. Nowra's about an hour south of Wollongong, where I was working from March-July 2005, a coastal town and nice. About two-and-a-half hours from Sydney, although
saramund reckons it's three hours by train, so I'll probably end up driving down the first time and catching the train back and forth when I come up to Sydney.
And, since I have the money lined up, it looks like the Round The World trip is back on the cards again. It was in question a little while ago, but we're back on the wagon now! I'll be booking it this weekend - hopefully the places and spaces I want to go to will still be possible according to the timing of the overall trip and the tours and everything. *crosses fingers*
venom69? Are you still gonna be in the UK/Europe come November?
If I can fly in to the US in the first week of October (rather than the second, when Disneyland is happening) then I will do my utmost to hop around seeing people. At this stage Texas is a definitely possibility. And if I'm in the north-east US, other than
slm76, anyone interested in meeting up?

Date: 2007-04-19 11:00 am (UTC)If I could program in six week block with a couple of weeks break between each six week set, that would be the best of all worlds for me, I think. I'd know there was a break coming and I'd work the better for it.

Date: 2007-04-19 12:06 pm (UTC)If you do swing by this way and spend a night or two in Gettysburg, if you're visiting a student here you can rent a room or two from the Seminary for a lot less than you'd pay for a hotel room.

Date: 2007-04-19 08:41 pm (UTC)I'm hoping to go around 'New England' and possibly with a little time in PA. The only 'northeast' I've been to has been Albany, NY. I had some friends up there - should get in contact with them again.
But Gettysburg sure sounds interesting!
