I have tix for the GABIT events, both, booked with [livejournal.com profile] stef94. I haven't yet decided on Gatecon or not.

Am debating whether I should make this "the summer of Canada", except that I really really wanted to do Europe in 2010 and I just won't have enough leave to manage both Canada and Europe.

I'm not even sure I should be going to the Sanctuary GABIT at all, since I'm not much of a Sanctuary fan and while I admire Amanda, I'm nowhere near the kind of fan that most of my friends are. Still, I doubt I'd have too much trouble offloading the tix. And it doesn't really make that much diff, since the Sanctuary con is between Gatecon and the RDA event.

I'm not even sure I actually want to go to Gatecon. The Stargates left me so distinctly 'meh', that the only person that I'd really really want to see is Rachel Luttrell. Nice as anyone else might be, they'd probably pretty much run Rachel off the stage and their fans would mostly be a headache. At least with RDA, I can laugh at all the b(.)(.)bage.

Plus, I still have to fret about D*C and my costume (or lack thereof) for it. Drat you, [livejournal.com profile] andveryginger! You've dragged me into this idea that I could make my own costume and not look like a complete idiot and now I can't give it up! (In spite of the fact that I suspect I will look like a complete idiot, whatever I choose.)

Current contenders are a Trek Starfleet uniform, Six's red dress, or Teyla's fighting outfit from Duet. How the heck I'm going to find time to make one or all of them while working, writing, attending church and bible study, playing and training for hockey, and going to the gym regularly, I don't know.

I was really looking forward to Europe in 2010.

FWIW (and the format has changed since they moved to the posh central hotel venue) Gatecon was and remains by far my favourite convention ever in terms of its style. It's very relaxed and while there are inevitably still some mad fans, it's better than most (all?) for keeping the actors free and safe just to chat and relax with fans.

I'll be trying to get to both Gatecon and GABIT MtM.. not sure about Sanctuary either yet..
Not sure how I'm going to bridge the gap between Gatecon and GABIT either yet (18 days between GC and Sanctuary), but maybe you and I can pool our resources, join forces and save a few bucks cos there's two of us paying for car rental and hotel rooms.

Plenty of very pretty places to go:
- Vancouver Island
- Rockies
- Glacier National Park
- Yellowstone NP

As for D*C, I'll be in full costume on Saturday, or whenever the costume day is these days ;-)
Not entering the competition, though, cos mine's the real (studio-made_ deal, and that would just be beyond unfair ;-)

Yes, I'm sending you an email re: D*C

Rockies! Yellowstone! OOOH!

'Cept I don't know if I'll have 18 days of leave by then... I shall have to consult my calendar of AL and work out how much time I can hoard by then...

I did a quick first budget, and came to 33 nights total, arriving the day before Gatecon and leaving the day after GABIT MtM.

The money's going to be the limiting factor for me.

But Rockies and Yellowstone, and then Vancouver Island with Sue, Denise and Sio sounds like a plan I should save up for :-)

Say 'to heck with the figure' and wear the Abigail costume anyway?

I'd love the BDUs if you're okay to haul them up to Atlanta.

I'm not sure about Teyla's outfit being easier, actually - while the trousers would probably be easy enough, the top looks like it's made of two parts, and doesn't seem to have straps or anything that ties it together (other than lacing up the back).

Ah, well, I found a Burda design that looks like it could do her outfit from the Duet fight with Ronon (http://www.gateworld.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=531&pos=3), but yes, the top in the link you set would probably be simple enough...

The trick would be working off the thin layer of belly fat - and practising standing up straight!

Teyla's fighting outfit really does look like it's two pieces - so I'm not too sure about imitating it - your suggestion might be a better one!

I'm going back to the gym tomorrow night, hockey training Tuesday, possibly gym Wednesday for a dance class, and probably Thursday for weights again. Friday's gonna be the day off. :) We'll see how things go.

*hugs* Tell me about not having enough time!

I'm going to do some sewing next Saturday and Sunday - the only things I'm doing are a Trivia Night on Saturday, and seeing Half-Blood Prince with my sisters sometimes over the weekend.

Hopefully manageable.
