Conventions 2009 and 2010

I have tix for the GABIT events, both, booked with
stef94. I haven't yet decided on Gatecon or not.
Am debating whether I should make this "the summer of Canada", except that I really really wanted to do Europe in 2010 and I just won't have enough leave to manage both Canada and Europe.
I'm not even sure I should be going to the Sanctuary GABIT at all, since I'm not much of a Sanctuary fan and while I admire Amanda, I'm nowhere near the kind of fan that most of my friends are. Still, I doubt I'd have too much trouble offloading the tix. And it doesn't really make that much diff, since the Sanctuary con is between Gatecon and the RDA event.
I'm not even sure I actually want to go to Gatecon. The Stargates left me so distinctly 'meh', that the only person that I'd really really want to see is Rachel Luttrell. Nice as anyone else might be, they'd probably pretty much run Rachel off the stage and their fans would mostly be a headache. At least with RDA, I can laugh at all the b(.)(.)bage.
Plus, I still have to fret about D*C and my costume (or lack thereof) for it. Drat you,
andveryginger! You've dragged me into this idea that I could make my own costume and not look like a complete idiot and now I can't give it up! (In spite of the fact that I suspect I will look like a complete idiot, whatever I choose.)
Current contenders are a Trek Starfleet uniform, Six's red dress, or Teyla's fighting outfit from Duet. How the heck I'm going to find time to make one or all of them while working, writing, attending church and bible study, playing and training for hockey, and going to the gym regularly, I don't know.
I was really looking forward to Europe in 2010.

Date: 2009-07-17 11:27 pm (UTC)I'd love the BDUs if you're okay to haul them up to Atlanta.
I'm not sure about Teyla's outfit being easier, actually - while the trousers would probably be easy enough, the top looks like it's made of two parts, and doesn't seem to have straps or anything that ties it together (other than lacing up the back).

Date: 2009-07-18 07:47 am (UTC)The trick would be working off the thin layer of belly fat - and practising standing up straight!

Date: 2009-07-19 08:36 am (UTC)I'm going back to the gym tomorrow night, hockey training Tuesday, possibly gym Wednesday for a dance class, and probably Thursday for weights again. Friday's gonna be the day off. :) We'll see how things go.
*hugs* Tell me about not having enough time!
I'm going to do some sewing next Saturday and Sunday - the only things I'm doing are a Trivia Night on Saturday, and seeing Half-Blood Prince with my sisters sometimes over the weekend.
Hopefully manageable.
