AUTHOR'S NOTES: My betas, [livejournal.com profile] grav_ity and [livejournal.com profile] rodlox, were magnificent and helped out significantly with the archaeological/anthropological side of things. Extreme thanks goes to my sister who gave me her anatomy textbook from which I researched my anatomical anthrobabble, even if she'll never read this entry or this story!

Once, several thousand years ago, it had been a temple to the Egyptian sun god, Ra. Doubtless in its day, the outer courtyard had been filled with worshippers and petitioners, thick with the press of human fear and piety, rank with the stench of unwashed, sweaty flesh...

Anyone know of someone who write Bones genfic in the style of the episodes? Preferably with a strong procedural/anthropological thread running through their stories.

I know it's a tall order and a difficult one to fill, but I'd like to get a feel for how Bones genfic goes.

Once again, [livejournal.com profile] allisnow gets me into a new show.

[livejournal.com profile] jalara? You were right on the money, hon. A strong, kickass, not-prone-to-showing-her-emotions woman with a sensible streak as wide as the Beltway. I like.

It's a good show. Some of the acting seems a little unsubtle, but the lines are good and it's nice to watch something and not feel "I've seen this character/situation/enemy/achilles' heel/weapon/planet before..." which is what tends to happen in SGA. And it's fun guessing at who's the killer.

Oddly enough, this is a show that I can watch while eating dinner. Although I sorta wince at the maggots.

The difficulty with writing fic for this series is that anything not geared towards romance is naturally going to be very technical in aspect which most people don't cope well with when it comes to writing fic. They can do the romance and relationships - obviously, we all have feelings, emotions, thoughts, desires - but the detail of action-adventure is trickier - especially if you have people who might nitpick in your area. And we're all scared of the nitpick. Well, not scared exactly. But I feel a sense of shame when I've written a paragraph or two around something technical and someone comes in and corrects me - I didn't do my research well enough.

It would be interesting though: I've only ever written for fandoms with a strong sci-fi or fantasy element, so this would be new. We'll see.

Anyone know where I can find torrents or downloads of Bones episodes 1.13 through 1.22 where the torrents actually work? The first six were fine, then the trackers stopped working and none of the torrents actually work. I got the rest from Alli, but it's a bit wearing on her bandwidth.

Please?
